research overview

  • Formal training in research is vital to conduct outstanding research. My prior education, both MD and PhD prepared me to become a translational researcher. Fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive surgery provided me with the clinical expertise needed to take care of women with pelvic floor dysfunctions. My basic science background allowed me to explore the role of smooth muscle cells in the pathophysiology of pelvic organ prolapse and development of biomarkers for ectopic pregnancy. We have spent several years in advancing our understanding on the diagnosis and management of ectopic pregnancy As an actively practicing gynecologist, armed with expertise in basic science, I have been successfully participating in clinical trials related to our filed and subspecialty as well.
