Jacot, Terry A.

  • Dr. Jacot is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2009. She received her Doctorate in Physiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. She completed postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC and the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Bethesda, MD.

    Dr. Jacot is currently Associate Director of CONRAD Clinical Laboratory Activities. As part of the CONRAD research team since 2010, a division of the OB/GYN Department, she has led clinical and basic research in the field of antiretroviral Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) adherence for HIV Prevention. Using her nearly 30 years experience in molecular and cellular biology research, she has developed objective markers of adherence that are currently utilized in multiple CONRAD clinical research projects. Dr. Jacot is also Director of the Clinical Research Laboratory at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) where she supports and directs laboratory analyses for various clinical studies and her own research related to women's health.

  • Dr. Jacot is interested in HIV prevention as it relates to developing objective markers and approaches for assessing adherence to pre-exposure prophylaxis regimens using antiretroviral medications. She is also interested in other women's health topics such as investigating mechanisms of heavy menstrual bleeding and cervicovaginal mucosal changes that occur in post-menopausal women using in vitro models and clinical research.
