  • Dr. Luo earned his joint Ph.D. in mathematics and statistics at The University of Florida in 2009 and completed postdoctoral training from Penn State Medical Center in 2010. He was an associate professor of biostatistics at University of Nebraska Medical Center before taking the current position. . He has broad research interest and more than 50 peer reviewed publications about clinical trials, NGS, genomics, genome-wide association, statistical genetics, QTL analysis, drug response, longitudinal data analysis, statistical modeling, cancer, optimal sample size calculation, Bayesian methods and numerical optimization etc. . Dr. Luo has collaborated with different scientists and researchers. He is the lead biostatistician for 5 RO1 projects, a U grant, and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation project. He also served as study biostatistician for Children's Oncology Group. Dr. Luo has also served as biostatistician reviewer for Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs for six consecutive times. Dr. Luo also has outstanding teaching experience in biostatics courses of design of medical studies (clinical trials), applied linear models (master level), biostatistics linear model methodology (PhD level), generalized linear models (PhD level), longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, mathematical statistics (point estimation and testing statistical hypothesis), and Bayesian methods.
