Dr. Shriti Patel is currently a faculty member at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she is Psychiatry Residency Program Director and practices as an adult and geriatric psychiatrist. She completed her undergraduate education at Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minor in Religion, then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 2006. After completing Psychiatry Residency at University of Florida, she obtained her Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. During her last 9 years at EVMS, she has participated actively in residency curriculum development, direct education, and mental health of her patients along with support of their caregivers. She is an active member of EVMS Graduate Medical Education Council, and chairs the GME Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee. Her clinical passions include behavioral disturbances in dementia, caregiver education, electroconvulsive therapy, and mental health education/advocacy.
