  • My research Topics of Interest are in Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. Please see cv for prior published research. Melanoma, Neuroendocrine tumors and hepatobiliary pathology are of particular interest to my clinical practice. I have been involved in several different collaborative projects over time with many different researchers to include students, residents, post doctoral fellows and PhD researchers and physicians.

  • Dr. Marybeth Hughes graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical school (EVMS) and completed surgical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School graduate school of medicine. Following surgical training, she did a Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute(NCI)at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). At the completion of training she served as Surgical Oncologist at the NCI, NIH for 12 years. She returned to Norfolk, VA to serve as the Chief of Surgical Oncology at EVMS in 2016. She currently is part of several leadership teams for EVMS and Sentara in Cancer research and cancer care.
