  • Sara Rothenberg, MPH is an Instructor of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Assistant Director for the Consortium for Infant and Child Health (CINCH). Rothenberg's research and community programming focuses on maternal and child health, early childhood education, breastfeeding, and youth tobacco and and obesity prevention. Rothenberg currently directs two projects funded by the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) to decrease tobacco use, prevent obesity, and promote breastfeeding. She also directs a pregnancy and oral health project funded by the United Way and Virginia Catalyst. Rothenberg works closely with community partners and decision-makers to influence public health policy and promote prevention and education to improve health outcomes and reduce inequities in the Hampton Roads community.



    Sara Rothenberg comes to EVMS from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she earned her MPH and focused her subsequent research on federal and state health policy, specifically the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid expansion, and health inequities. She is a native of New York State, where she worked with local health departments and non-profit organizations in health promotion.
