Research
research overview
- The Nyalwidhe Lab focuses on understanding the molecular basis and signaling mechanisms that are involved in cancer progression and the role of host-pathogen interactions in mediating microbial infections disease pathogenesis. The goal is to identify and characterize molecules and mechanisms that mediate progression to aggressive forms of cancers and to uncover the mechanisms that modulate microbial disease pathogenesis. These studies utilize advance qualitative and quantitative mass spectrometry for functional proteomic and glycomic strategies to identify biomarkers and pathways that may play a role in disease pathogenesis. Ongoing work focuses on the development of protein biomarkers for aggressive forms of prostate cancer, the role of glycosylation in aggressive prostate cancer progression and the role of viruses on the etiology of type 1 diabetes.
